Hyde, William (1780-?) – Breckinridge Co., KY

William Hyde/Hide was born about 1780 probably in Rowan County, NC when it contained much of western NC before it was divided into smaller counties. He lived in Greenville County SC, and Pendelton District, SC then moved to Hawesville, Breckinridge (now Hancock) County, KY. He married Anna Maria Brunner on August 1, 1802 in Breckinridge County, KY. Marriage Bond by Benjamin Riley from Rowan County, NC (Suggesting that his friend was from back home in NC.).

William and Anna Maria had one child:

1. James Hyde (1807-1834) who married Maria Snider (1808-1837).

We are searching for answers to the following questions:

1. Who were William’s parents?

2. Where/When did William Hyde and Anna Maria Brunner Hyde die and where are they buried?

If you are of this line, please leave a reply.

  • My name is Colleen Hyde. I am the family genealogist for the Hyde family of Linn and Grant counties, Oregon. Our ancestor, Perry Hyde, was born in 1825, in KY (possibly Laurel county). He married Eliza Tyler and their son Francis Marion was born in Oak Grove, KY in 1850. In 1851 they went by wagon train to Linn county, OR. We haven’t been able to trace his line further back.

  • William Hyde’s parents may have been David Hyde Sr. born 1768 Wikes, Georgia and died 1845 in Hall County, Georgia, and mother, Elizabeth Hyde born 1775 . Died Wikes,Georgia in circa 1845.. They had children: William Hyde, half brother William Austin Hyde, Pleasant Hyde, Betty Hude, Winney Hyde and judith Hyde. William Hyde was born circa 1800 and died in 1875. (Alabama).William had a son named Caleb Hyde born April 1845, He died August 29, 1912. It looks like Caleb’s mother Liza Beth A. Histte died in childbirth or shortly afterwards. Caleb was buried in Beat 10, Winston, Alabama. Caleb’s wife was Louisa Elizabeth, Elizabeth. Sounds weird but this is how the GENI page reads.

  • You’re mixing three or more different Hide/Hyde lines. I can’t help you if you’re just going to copy other people’s online trees. Can you begin with your furthest confirmed (on paper) ancestor? That’s a much better start.
